Now lets get started with the tutorial

1. Open a new work area with the Width set at 500 and the Height set at 350.

2. Select two complimentary colours from your tube one dark and one light, I used #000000 for my foreground and #FFFFFF for my background.

3. Flood fill your work area with your dark colour.

4. Go to Effects/penta.com/Dot and Cross and apply the settings below.

cross and dot

5. Add a new layer.

6. Toggle your colours and flood fill with your light colour.

7. Copy and paste your salsa_bubbles and arrange in the upper right hand corner.

8. If you are using black and white like I am on your layers palette lower the opacity to 55. If using your own colours lower the opacity to 38 and change the Blend Mode to Luminace (Legacy)

9. Duplicate this layer.

10. Go to Image/Mirror.

11. Then Image/Flip.

12. Copy and paste your curve 1 tube and arrange to the left hand side.

13. This is what you have so far.

24. Duplicate this layer.

25. Then to Image/Mirror.

26. Make sure your Background is your dark colour and CLOSE your Foreground.

27. Open your Rulers, Guides and Snap to Guide Lines, to do this go to View/Rulers, View/Guides, View/Snap to Guides.

28. Lets set up our guide lines, place the first one at 170, to do this click on the lefthand side ruler and holding your mouse down slide the guide over and when ready let go.

29 Now set your second guide at 180.

30. Now click on your rectangle shape tool.

31. Now start at the very top INSIDE your guide lines and draw a rectangle all the way past the bottom of your work area.

32. Now click on your black (dark) line and use your arrow key to move it up to very top if you see a space there, this is why we went past the work area.

33. On your layers palette right click on this Vector layer and select Convert to Raster Layer.

34. Open your foreground colour which should be your white or light colour.

35. Close your Guides by going to View/Guides and unchecking.

36. Click on your Pen tool and set it at 175 and draw a straight line all the way down and past your work area.

37. Once again check to make sure it is all the way to the top, if not click on it and use your arrow key to move it up.

38. On your Layers palette right click on this Vector layer and select Convert to Raster Layer.

39. Right click on your white line layer and select Merge/Merge Down, this will merge the two lines together, if I remember correctly PSP 7 users will have to close all the layers except the two lines and merge visible, then reopen all the layers again.

40. Duplicate this layer and move your line so that the lefthand edge is on 190.

41. Duplicate again and move your line so that the lefthand edge is on 300.

42. Duplicate again and move your line so that the lefthand edge is on 320.

43. What we have so far, I zoomed this in so you could make sure your line placement is right.

46. Arrange this on the left hand side of your work area and align the top so it is sitting at 120 on your ruler.

47. Now it is short so click on your Pick tool (arrow).

48. Go to the right end of your line and hover your mouse over it, when you see the arrow pointing east and west click and pull all the way over to the right hand side and slightly past.

49. Now that was better than pulling out the guides and drawing all over again.

50. Click on Line 1 (your first vertical line you made)to activate it.

51. Go to Selections/Select All.

52. Selections/Float.

53. Selections/Defloat.

54. Click on your horizontal line to activate it.

NOTE: I toggled back and forth from my move tool to the eraser, you can keep your eraser and use the layer palette to do the activation of the layers, that we are working with. Just remember not to touch the lines with the eraser tool when just activating the layer.

55. Click on your eraser tool and erase the hoizontal line covering line 1.

56. Deselect.

57. Click on Line 4(your fourth vertical line you made)to activate it.

58. Go to Selections/Select All.

59. Selections/Float.

60. Selections/Defloat.

62. Click on your eraser tool and erase the hoizontal line covering line 4.

63. Deselect.

64. Duplicate your horizontal line.

65. Go to Image/Flip.

66. Copy and paste your main image tube.

67. Arrange your tube however you like on the work area.

68. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the following settings.

69. Close your Foreground colour and Open your Background colour (Light colour).

70. Set your font settings to the following, I am using Impact any thick font will do.

71. In all Capital letters type your name.

72. On your layers palette change the Vector Layer to a Raster Layer.

73. Now close your Background colour and open your Foreground colour (Dark colour).

75. On your layers palette change the Vector Layer to a Raster Layer.

76. Now arrange your name to where you like and arrange the dark over the light.

77. Now with the dark outline of your name activated apply the following drop shadow, this gives your name a pool shadow look.

dropshadow

78. Go to Image/Add border and set to your dark colour and with symmetric checked set this to 2.

79. Again to Image/Add Border and set it to your light colour and set it to 1.

80. Last time to Image/Add Border and set it to your dark colour and set it to 2.

81. Add your watermark and save your work.

82. I know this was a long and tedious tutorial but I felt you would get more out of it doing the work rather than me making selections that you just flood filled. Hope you had fun, have a great day.
